Complete guide to Za Życiem benefit
The 'Za Życiem' cash benefit is one of the most important family benefits in Poland for families raising children with disabilities. The program was introduced by the Act of July 24, 2014 and has been paid since November 2014. It is a monthly cash benefit granted to parents or legal guardians of a child with a disability assessment issued by the District Team for Disability Assessment or a social insurance medical certificate. The benefit amount depends on the child's disability degree and amounts to: for significant disability - 1000 PLN monthly, for moderate disability - 700 PLN monthly, for mild disability - 500 PLN monthly. The benefit is granted from the date of application submission, but no earlier than the date when the child obtained the disability assessment. If the application is submitted after the child turns 18, the benefit is not granted. The program requires no income threshold - every family raising a child with a disability can receive these funds regardless of income level. Parents can combine the Za Życiem benefit with other family benefits, such as 800+ or nursing allowance. The benefit is paid monthly, usually by the 10th of each month. For children with significant disability assessment, the parent can also apply for a supplement to the nursing allowance.
