Complete guide to Dobry Start program
The Dobry Start program, commonly called '300 plus', is a one-time cash benefit of 300 PLN granted to every student starting the school year. The program was introduced by the Act of November 22, 2018 and is implemented by Social Assistance Centers and family support centers across the country. The benefit aims to support families in covering part of the costs related to the start of the school year - purchasing a school backpack, notebooks, writing supplies, textbooks (if not borrowed), and other necessary school items. Unlike the 800+ program, the Dobry Start benefit is not intended for arbitrary purposes but must be used for the child's educational needs. The application for the benefit is usually submitted between July 1 and November 30 each year, and the payment is made in August before the school year starts. If the application is submitted after the school year starts, the benefit is paid within 30 days of submitting a complete application. The program requires no income threshold - every family can receive the benefit regardless of income level. For children studying in non-public (private) schools, the benefit is granted on the same terms as in public schools. Parents of secondary school students and students of previous years' classes can also apply for the Dobry Start benefit.
